Part Time Theatre Technician (20 - 25 hours per week)

The Theatre Technician will assist in performing technical and clerical support activities for the Fine Arts Department at WPS and the Cypress Center for the Arts. The Theatre Technician will display a flexible attitude, and will undertake varying roles as dictated by performance and rehearsal requirements in an educational setting. He/she will assist in the safe operation and maintenance of theatre lighting, sound, rigging, video projection and related equipment and systems used in support of staging musical productions, music concerts, dance, school assemblies, meetings, and related events. He/she will assist with a variety of clerical office duties and advance preparation for facility usage.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

• Reports directly to the Theatre Technician Specialist & Director of the Fine Arts.
• Assists with Technical /theatre needs for all Fine Arts Productions and events including, but not limited to Audio, Video, lighting, video, rigging, sound and props.
• Ideally specializes in Audio Equipment and can mentor students to provide quality audio for performances and events.
• Assist with the scenic construction and painting
• Operates Technical equipment as needed for productions and events.
• Aids in the set up and tear down of all performances/events.
• Monitors the condition of equipment including lighting, sound, projection, rigging and other theatrical systems, reports maintenance needs to the Theatre Technician Specialist.
• Coach MS/HS Thespians for competition in the technical fields including the Competitive one act at the Cypress Center or competition locations.
• Assist Juilliard with summer sessions, set up and operate tech for workshops. Provide lighting Design and Audio for all faculty and student performances.
• Assist with tech and operate equipment for summer camp events in theater.
• Stay up to date on current trends in the production industry and seek out ways to expand skill sets.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Previous experience as a theater technician.
• Ability to operate a Yamaha QL5 Audio Board
• Ability to drive a uhaul
• Ability to program and ion XE lighting console (a plus, but not required).
• Basic carpentry and craft skills.
• Flexible hours (daytime and nighttime)

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Technical Theatre, Sound Emgneering or Stage Management.
