Job Overview

The Sustainability Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of the Wind Creek Hospitality environmental and sustainability program following regulatory guidelines. The candidate will deliver a wide range of energy management and associated analytic activity, energy efficiency assessment, planning, and a range of sustainability activities and initiatives supporting Wind Creek Hospitality in implementing their vision for a sustainable and resilient future. Serves as the primary point person (reporting to the Executive Director Facilities) with the responsibility of establishing and maintaining effective monitoring and evaluation measures of new and existing sustainability solutions and renewable installations, and tracking the effectiveness of implemented initiatives.

The role involves working with colleagues across the organization to identify and deliver innovative and sustainable initiatives, energy-reducing measures in new and existing facilities, planned maintenance projects, and broader business activities, and preparing business cases for new initiatives, understand how energy management helps the organization achieve its financial and environmental goals and objectives — all satisfying the Purpose.

Duties And Responsibilities (Selected)
  • Models, promotes, monitors, and assures Guest safety, throughout Properties
  • Oversee the development and project management of energy and sustainability initiatives in line with WCH goals and commitments to ensure delivery on account KPI’s or expectations, including energy savings, carbon footprint reduction, water, and waste management.
  • Support the development and execution of WCH energy and or sustainability strategy, increasing the visibility of energy management within the organization
  • Drive operational efficiencies by identifying and implementing opportunities to improve energy and sustainability performance across Properties. In addition to planning and implementing specific improvements, the Director of Sustainability measures and tracks energy performance communicates with management, employees, and other stakeholders, and engages with facility managers, energy champions, and account colleagues as the key point of contact for the provision of wide-ranging advice in relation to all aspects of environmental sustainability.
  • Manage the energy, waste, and water data collection process within the company technology platform and produce monthly and quarterly reports tailored to our WCH-specific requirements.
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainability performance and use of utility/sustainability management systems for monitoring and/or reporting purposes.
  • Support WCH corporate reporting objectives, external disclosure, and requests for information.
  • Support execution of project work and lead staff to deliver on projects; the support will include planning, coordinating, and arranging for the development, funding, processing, and management of energy projects.
  • Plans, organizes and directs the development and implementation of new sustainable initiatives and technologies to the built environment as needed to further and promote the business of WCHGA. Discharges these duties with close collaboration with the support of corporate facilities.
  • Remains informed of continuously changing body of knowledge of sustainable technology, practices, regulations, compliance, methods, and industry trends. Provides such information to Executive Property Management and others, as appropriate, to keep the Corporate sustainable program current with industry best practice
  • Drafting an Energy Policy, creating and leading the Energy Team, Identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring implementation (including staff training)
  • Strategic problem solver with an ability to work independently and proactively; keen eye for detail as well as the ability to focus and drive towards the bigger picture
  • Identify and seek outside funding, including grants and private, corporate, and foundation sources and administer grant funding as needed in coordination with the PCI Environmental Department.
  • Attend external meetings, conferences and/or workshops as a representative of WCH, which may include presenting and performing a range of other public relations functions for programs related to the WindCreek sustainability plans and goals.
  • Develop and present environmental education and training programs for PCIG Facilities, operations departments, corporate partners, community groups, and the public.
  • Will lead a corporate sustainability committee identifying key projects or initiatives.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements: (please ensure you meet the listed requirements prior to applying)

  • High School diploma or GED– required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, Mathematics or Related Field AND three (3) years’ experience in a Management position– required
    • OR Seven (7) years’ experience in a Management position– required
    • OR Five (5) years’ experience in a Management position with Wind Creek Hospitality– required
  • Five (5) years’ experience in an Executive capacity- required
  • Five (5) years’ experience in project management, including balancing multiple projects and a proven track record of leading engagements, managing teams, and delivering high-impact sustainability solutions - required
  • Five (5) years of successfully delivering sustainability engagements, leading a team, and working closely with clients across diverse areas from strategy, reporting, GHG emissions, climate change, scenario analysis, social impact, waste management and social sustainability- required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and analytical skills, including managing databases, conducting analyses, and using Microsoft Suite and other software programs- required
  • Record of success in meeting objectives through directing the work of management-level subordinates- required
  • Record of success with increasing responsibilities for outcomes in annual periods, and complete fiscal years- required
  • Skill in researching and analyzing information and data, writing reports and other documents; maintaining records and files; the use of a personal computer and software including applications for word processing spreadsheets and data management, and the use of cloud storage systems – required
  • Passing an interview process attaining the most points compared to other qualified candidates - required
  • Willing to work odd and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must have a Tribal Gaming License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) as a requirement for this position
  • Must be able to qualify for, apply for and obtain a Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board license if required.
  • Must have willingness and ability to work in a smoke/secondary smoke environment
