K-5 and K-8 Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) Interventionist

QUALIFICATIONS:

Holds a valid certified Tennessee Teaching License endorsed in Elementary and/or Special Education, 3 years’ experience teaching Reading and/or Language Arts required, experience teaching Math preferred, completion of TNCore Reading Intervention Course preferred, current Level of Effectiveness is 4 or 5, knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, STAR360, and TVAAS preferred, meets health and physical requirements

JOB GOAL: The RTI2 Interventionist will:

  • Under the direction of the school principal and district RTI2 coordinator, implement and support the RTI2/PLC initiatives at the school level in accordance with local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Provide direct instruction for reading and/or math interventions, assess and monitor students through the intervention tiers, and provide Tier II and III instruction.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers in planning and implementing an individualized program for Tier II and III students.
  • Communicate with parents to offer support and provide resources for optimum student achievement.

REPORTS TO: School Principal

F.L.S.A.: Exempt

SCHEDULE: 200 Days

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provide Tier II and III instruction for Reading and/or Math interventions;
  2. Assist schools in the organization and administration of the universal screener;
  3. Responsible for supplementing state and district core initiatives and programs with scientifically researched based reading and/or math instruction of Tier II and Tier III.
  4. Disaggregate and analyze data with school level personnel to plan instruction and intervention based on student assessment data;
  5. Assist intervention teams in identifying students for Tier II and III, and work in small group settings with these students on deficit skills for reading and/or math;
  6. Administer various diagnostics and interpret achievement data to assess the needs and progress of Tier II and III students;
  7. Maintain records of assessments to document results of interventions and rate of improvement (ROI) for each Tier II and III students;
  8. Provide/submit required school data reports to school administration and district RTI2 coordinator;
  1. Conduct and participate in professional development opportunities for intervention on the school level and the district level;
  2. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district/school policy;
  3. Provide resources, best practices, and professional development in the Response to Intervention process;
  4. Actively participate in PLC meetings;
  5. Provide information to parents that would enable them to help their child succeed;
  6. Attend school regularly and on time; and
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the school principal.
