CLASSIFICATION TITLE:AG CENTER DIRECTOR
FLSA STATUS:EXEMPT

Salary = $90,792 - $104,291 per year based on qualifications
PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATIONThe purpose of this classification is to oversee a variety of skilled landscaping work, supervise employees, and run day to day operations. The Director is responsible for overseeing the managing of the grounds and facilities and other places associated with the General Public Usage. Duties and responsibilities buying and maintaining necessary equipment, maintaining and planning operations that involve grounds that are under the control of the Wilson County, maintaining grounds areas, operating/maintaining equipment, and performing related tasks. Reports to Agricultural Center Management Committee and County Mayor. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe following duties are normal for this position. The omission of specific statements of the duties does not exclude them from the classification if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment for this classification. Other duties may be required and assigned.Develops, collaborates with and maintains public relations with extension agents, sponsors, associations, community groups, County Commission, Agricultural Center Management Committee, Fiddlers Grove, Wilson County Promotions (Fair), and other entities. Possesses the ability to work alone as well as understand oral and written instructions.Conducts “after use” inspections to ensure the facilities and/or grounds are left clean and undamaged following each scheduled use.Maintains facility use records and documents use patterns and participation.Processes deposit and rent payments for facility and/or grounds use in addition to deposit refunds following general public use of facility and/or grounds.Conducts periodic checks of facility and grounds area to include irrigation system, grounds maintenance and bush hogging.Provides training and instruction as needed related to demonstrations. Monitors status of work and assists in troubleshooting problem situations.Operates a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools associated with projects and work activities, which may include a utility truck or other motor vehicles, mower, weed eater, lawnmower, electric blower, hedge clippers, vacuum cleaner, chain saw, skill saw, circular saw, drill, shovel, post hole digger, mechanic tools or carpentry tools. Inspects/tests machinery, equipment and parts for proper operations; makes adjustments, repairs or replacements as appropriate; reports problem situations.When needed performs general/preventive maintenance tasks necessary to keep vehicles, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, refueling vehicles, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, changing tires, tightening bolts, replacing parts, sharpening blades, washing/cleaning equipment, or cleaning shop/work areas; monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; reports faulty equipment.Transports, loads, and unloads various equipment and materials used in projects; monitors status of materials under transport; retrieves any fallen debris.Serves as safety coordinator and ensures all safety procedures for the use of equipment are followed. Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors facilities and grounds to ensure safety of employees, clients, and other individuals.Monitors inventory levels of department materials, tools, equipment, and supplies; ensures availability of adequate materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new or replacement materials.Makes minor decisions in accordance with established procedures.Prepares or completes various forms, reports, correspondence, or other documents.Receives various forms, reports, correspondence, policies, procedures, manuals, reference materials, or other documentation; reviews, completes, processes, forwards or retains as appropriate.Communicates with employees, other departments, the public, outside agencies, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems.Safety sensitive position subject to pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random drug screens.Oversees Exposition Center Operations and assists Exposition Center General Manager and Marketing Director as needed. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONSProvides assistance to other employees or departments as needed.Performs other related duties as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSAssociates degree or vocational/technical training in management, grounds maintenance and equipment operation; supplemented by 5 years previous experience and/or training involving grounds maintenance, equipment operation, and maintenance work in area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Preferred electrical and plumbing experience and knowledge. Must possess and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license.PERFORMANCE APTITUDESData Utilization: Requires the ability to calculate and/or tabulate data.
