POSITION: (FT) Faculty and Director, Division of Education

Effective immediately: (FT) Faculty and Director, Division of Education, College of Education & Liberal Arts, Wilmington University, New Castle.

Requirements:
A Doctorate degree is required. Candidate must have licensure and experience as a K-12 Classroom Teacher or School Building Educator and as a School Building Leader / Principal. The incumbent must have a minimum of 5 years of proven teaching excellence in education, including preparation in teaching and learning principles, curriculum development, implementation, and evaluation. Established leadership experience in a major academic setting, experience in teaching or Educator Preparation Provider as a Program Chair, Leader, or Full Time Faculty. Must have excellent customer service skills. Must be a self-starter with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills and have the ability to work independently, but also as a team member. Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Candidate should, but not necessarily have knowledge of SharePoint, SmartCatalog, Website, social media, LMS/Canvas – Basic/HOT/Cyber, Synchronous online teaching tools (i.e. Zoom). Must demonstrate respect for diversity in the workplace and a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment that values the contributions of all employees. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations is required.

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Effectively manage the overall operations and curriculum of the assigned academic division, ensuring compliance with internal requirements such as program review and outcomes assessment, as well as external requirements for approval, accreditation, and licensure.
  • Support, mentor, and guide program chairs in achieving expected outcomes related to teaching, scholarship, service, and practice.
  • Address student concerns and handle academic/grade appeals promptly in alignment with Academic Policy and Procedures.
  • Provide supervision to ensure compliance with Faculty and Student Handbooks.
  • Guide and supervise administrative staff to ensure timely support and services for students.
  • Support diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives within the Academic College.
  • Maintain an active presence at University events such as the Conference on Teaching Excellence.
  • Collaborate and network with practitioners, serve on College/University standing committees, and participate in activities to enhance academic programs and student support.
  • Participate and contribute to the work of the Faculty Senate, and support University functions such as Commencement, homecoming, athletic events, fundraisers, Open House programs, and student orientations.
  • Develop and expand individual, professional, and community networks and partnerships to support the Academic College and its goals.
  • Collaborate with University Relations to promote the visibility and growth of Education programs, fostering relationships with stakeholders and affiliate organizations.
  • Provide guidance and support to Program Chairs and faculty in meeting state and national licensure and accreditation requirements.
  • Foster positive and collaborative relationships with other College Directors.
  • Enhance skills associated with course delivery and student learning.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and exploration.
  • Promote faculty professional development, including the regular review and communication of student feedback.
  • Perform additional responsibilities that support the institution’s mission and vision as directed by university leadership.
  • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and diverse environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collaborate with the Academic Dean on strategic planning and fiscal operations of the unit in alignment with University initiatives and priorities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.

Hours of Employment: Generally, Monday – Friday between the hours of 10:00 am – 6:00 p.m. Evening hours as needed for course load or meetings/events. Occasional weekends as needed for special events. Required to attend all Graduation ceremonies, Doctoral recognition events, College meetings, Faculty Senate meetings and sub-committee meetings, and Professional Development Day events.
