Wilmington Health is committed to using collaborative, evidence-based medicine in providing the highest quality of care to the patients we serve.PurposeAdministers nursing care for and treats patients in medical office, as directed by Physician, Advanced Clinical Provider, Registered Nurse or supervising department manager, by performing the following dutiesEssential Duties/Responsibilities
Prepares patient for and assists with examinations
Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, provides accurate and consistent information to the patient using an established protocol, interprets Physician's instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor procedures, and performs related tasks as directed
Collects patient data and maintains records of vital statistics and physiological/biological information in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications.
Conducts specified laboratory tests
Acts as receptionist, performs secretarial duties, may communicate with insurance companies, and calling in/faxing prescriptions
Communicates with managed care for prior authorizations. Schedules procedures on campus and off site
Responsible to respond to/triage patient phone calls and messages
Educates patients and instructs on any medications, treatment plans, etc.
Other Duties
Daily Chart Prep: requesting lab reports from PCP
Printing last office note and any test from Dosher Hospital not in chart
Manage PT/INR Patients: 30 patients on warfarin/coumadin
call patients to get lab work done/receive/request lab reports; input in computer task to Dr. Aldrich; once received from him call patients with report
Triage: phone calls/ walk in patients: liaison between patient and physician
All nurse visits: EKG/BP Checks/Med checks documenting all information
Zio Monitor Placement/Education document in computer and on register patient on ZIO web page
Maintaining failsafe
Receive/sort all faxes: triage labs/pre-op clearance
Maintain Sample Closet; requesting samples and receiving information from Drug Reps
documenting samples given to patient on clipboard and in chart
Assisting patients in patient assistance programs for medications: filling in paperwork obtaining the paperwork needed and faxing/calling drug assistance programs
Prescriptions: prior authorizations, approving and send prescriptions as per Dr. Aldrich
Educational nurse visit for injections: Repatha/Praluent
Patient Communication: test results/sending lab orders to patient
Assist Front Desk as needed
Assist Dr. Aldrich as needed
All other duties as assigned by Department Manager
Required QUALIFICATIONS
Active CMA or RMA Certification from accredited association
Successfully completed and passed an accredited Associates Degree program in Medical Assisting or an accredited CMA program
telemetry reading ability
Preferred
One year clinical experience
