Assistant Professor of Sport Management, Tenure-Track
Wilmington College (WC) is an independent college in Southwest, Ohio with a reputation for providing "hands-on learning opportunities." Founded in 1870 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), WC hosts approximately 1,000 students on its campus in Wilmington, Ohio. Wilmington is within an hour drive of three major metropolitan areas: Cincinnati, Dayton, and Columbus.
The college currently has a 10-year continuing accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and the Sport Management Program has further accreditation through the Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA).
Sport Management stands as one of the largest programs at Wilmington College, housed within the Sport Sciences Area. The program features career-orientated curriculum that is enhanced by hands-on learning experiences both inside and outside of the classroom. Students further their education through annual experiential learning opportunities including working at the NFL Super Bowl, College Football Playoffs, the Men's and Women's Final Four, among other major sporting events.

Job Description:
Wilmington College is seeking a qualified candidate for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Sport Management position to begin Fall 2024. Priority will be given to individuals with a background in teaching courses related to Esports Management. The teaching load at the college is 3/3 (24 total credit hours).
Job Responsibilities:
Activities of all faculty members at Wilmington College include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, and student advising; professional attainment; and service to the department, college, and community.
The successful candidate will:
•Teach undergraduate courses in the Sport Management Program. Experience teaching the following courses is preferred: Sport Finance and Sales, Digital Sport Media and Communications, Strategic Sport Management Practicum, and Facility and Event Management
•Teach courses in the new Esports Management Minor. Courses include: Introduction to Esports Management, Contemporary Issues in Esports, The Esports Industry, and Esports Seminar
•Provide service to the Sport Management Program, Sport Sciences Area, College, and broader academic and professional communities
•Advise and mentor students, assisting with their academic and career planning. Typical advisee loads in the program are 50 students
•Participate in faculty shared governance by serving on college committees
•Engage in outreach activities to strengthen relationships within the Sport Industry
•Maintain a high level of scholarly activity including research and scholarship relevant to the field
•Oversee the Coaching and/or Esports Management Minors' curriculum and assessment
•Advise the new Esports Student Club
•Other responsibilities may include supervision of student internships and ensuring compliance of COSMA policy and procedures
•Perform other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications:
Candidates are preferred to have a terminal degree in Sport Management or related discipline. Consideration will be given to candidates with a Master's degree in Sport Management or related discipline based upon significant experience in the Sport Industry.
Other qualifications include:
•A demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level
•Strong written and oral communication skills
•The ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and industry professionals
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Blackboard, and Jenzabar
