Cabinet Shop Project Estimator Job Description

Summary: The Estimator is responsible for estimating cabinetry projects and works closely with Project Managers and Designers to produce an accurate cost estimate of cabinet projects. The position requires analyzing blueprints and specifications to generate detailed scopes of work and translating those into estimates.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

· Review and interpret project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate

· Analyze blueprints and other documents to prepare material, labor, and cost estimates

· Combine all material, production, shipping, and other associated costs to calculate final estimates

· Collaborate with Project Managers, Designers, and Drafters to solve issues

· Work with suppliers to obtain quotes for materials and negotiate pricing

· Prepare estimates for changes throughout the course of the project

Technical Skills and Responsibilities:

· Effective communication skills

· Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications

· Ability to visualize an end result from construction drawing

· Paperwork management, including review of architectural drawings, draft shop drawings, layout conflicts, etc.

· Effective time management skills, strong analytical skills, and attention to detail

· Solid organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities as well as the ability to work under pressure and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Strong computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

· Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide quickly and accurately

Education/Experience:

· Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications with a basic knowledge of cabinetry, construction, and installation is required

· An associate degree with 1-2 years related experience/training or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
