Pay Range: $50-60k based on experience

Job Overview:

As an Access Control Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of access control systems within commercial and industrial settings. This position requires a strong understanding of electronic security systems and the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure optimal functionality and security for clients' facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Install, program, and configure access control systems according to project specifications and industry standards.
  2. Conduct site surveys to assess client needs and develop customized access control solutions.
  3. Troubleshoot and repair access control system components, including readers, controllers, and software interfaces.
  4. Perform regular maintenance tasks, such as firmware updates, database management, and system backups, to ensure system reliability and security.
  5. Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to coordinate installation schedules and project timelines.
  6. Provide training and technical support to clients and end-users on the operation and maintenance of access control systems.
  7. Document all installations, repairs, and maintenance activities in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  8. Stay updated on advancements in access control technology and recommend upgrades or enhancements to existing systems as needed.
  9. Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while working on job sites, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training in electronics, security systems, or related fields preferred.
  • Proven experience installing and servicing access control systems, including familiarity with industry-leading brands and manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as travel to client sites may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces, as necessary.
  • Capable of standing, kneeling, and bending for extended periods.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with integrated security systems, including CCTV, intrusion detection, and intercom systems.
  • Familiarity with networking principles and protocols, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and VLAN configurations.
  • Knowledge of access control standards and regulations, such as UL 294 and NFPA 101 Life Safety Code.
