Description

Summary

The position of Machine Builder assembles components to fabricate or repair products, such as press systems, agricultural dryers, machine parts, fabrication projects, and plant equipment, according to layouts, blueprints, or work orders, using brazing and a variety of hand tools and material handling equipment.

Essential Functions

  1. Reviews drawings and travelers to ensure proper materials are being used and to understand the scope of work.
  2. Reviews all drawing and verify the material has been properly prepared prior to starting a project. If material needs additional preparations, prep as needed or notify a supervisor.
  3. Determines best setting up methods and techniques procedure in order to assemble jobs.
  4. Positions, setups, and/or clamps components in order to safely assemble parts. Operate material handling and rigging equipment (I.e. overhead cranes and forklifts). 
  5. Using precision measuring devices to check tolerances and to insure proper assembly.
  6. Rigging of large press members using lifting devices.
  7. Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  8. Cleaning, deburring parts for assembly using hand and power tools.
  9. Disassembly of machinery in preparation for shipment, this may include operating paint equipment, packaging and loading.
  10. Climbing ladders scaffold. Walking, lifting, carrying, reading, documenting measurements, communicating.
  11. Climbing, elevated work, use of overhead, cranes to manipulate heavy loads, handling heavy tools, rigging equipment, working near energized equipment and using solvents for cleaning.
  12. Ability to work extended hours and overtime. 
  13. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 50 pounds.
  14. Ability to work occasionally in poor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

  2. 5-7 years’ minimum experience in job-related position.
