What You'll Do:

  • Civil Information Modeling: Develop 3D construction models of excavation, paving preparation, and road infrastructure using supplied earthwork CAD and CAD manipulation CIM software to support project bidding, construction planning, design, and project execution (machine control). All while maintaining compliance with the bid documents / contract documents / and all safety regulations.
  • Earthwork Quantification: Utilize CIM software to calculate earthwork quantities, including cut and fill volumes, grading requirements, and material quantities, to inform project budgeting and scheduling.
  • Budgeting Models: Collaborate with project stakeholders, including the Williams estimating team, project managers, engineers, and owners to develop accurate budgeting models based on CIM-generated data, ensuring alignment with project objectives and constraints.
  • Quantity Takeoff Models: Generate quantity takeoffs and material estimates from CIM generalized models to support cost estimation, procurement, and project planning activities. Quantity takeoffs include excavation quantities for generalized building excavations.
  • Improved Takeoff Models: Generate accurate quantity takeoffs and material estimates from CIM detailed models to support cost estimation and constructability reviews. Quantity takeoffs include excavation quantities for detailed and complex building excavations. Improved takeoff models must reflect realistic activity phasing and building logic.
  • Visualization: Create 3D visualizations and renderings from CIM models to communicate design intent, construction intent, and support decision-making processes. Data Integration: Gather and integrate data from various sources, including survey data procured from the Civil engineer and the Civil Survey Technicians, engineering drawings, drone photogrammetry / point cloud data, and asbuilts to inform the development of CIM models.
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with CIM Manager, Civil Survey Technicians, engineers, designers, and other project stakeholders to coordinate design elements within CIM models, ensuring we produce what Williams Civil Construction owes.
  • Model Management: Maintain and update CIM models throughout the project lifecycle, incorporating design revisions, as-built data, and field observations to ensure model accuracy and integrity.
  • Documentation: Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations related to CIM models, highlighting key design features, quantities, and constructability requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and validations of CIM models, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in CIM and civil construction, seeking opportunities to enhance processes, tools, and methodologies.

What You Bring: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a CIM modeler or similar role, with a focus on building foundation excavations, site excavations, paving prep, and road construction.
  • Proficiency in earthwork CAD software, particularly the AGTEK software suite and Topcon Magnet Office suite, with a strong understanding of 3D modeling for machine control, layout, and earthwork calculation.
  • Knowledge of utilities design and coordination, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and utility relocation is a plus.
  • Understanding of excavation and grading principles, including earthwork calculations, cut and fill analysis, and slope stabilization.
  • Experience in road design and alignment, including horizontal and vertical geometry, cross-sections, and pavement design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve design conflicts and discrepancies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, with a commitment to producing accurate and high-quality CIM models that meet project requirements and specifications.
