Job Title: Custodian / Housekeeping

Job Hours: Up to 18hrs/wk, during operating hours

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Maintaining the building and grounds in a neat, clean, and safe condition is vital to our work at the YMCA. Your work ethic has the potential to grow into more opportunities at the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

***To be done on Monday / Wednesday / Friday***

Wipe down handles / rails / drinking fountains

Clean Markey room and elevator

Spangler Play Area (sweep and wipe down)

Sweep all offices, entrance ways, and pool deck area. Empty exterior trash receptacles and office trash containers.

Gymnasium (sweep, scrubbed, trash)

Gymnasium stairwell (swept and rails wiped down)

Fitness Center equipment

Cycling Studio (swept and equipment wiped down)

Check all bathrooms and shower rooms for: paper towels, toilet paper, sanitary receptacles, empty trash bins, squeegee shower rooms, wipe sinks/faucets, clean toilets as needed

Mop childcare area and hallway

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum age of 18 years old.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning and cleaning supplies. Must be able to read and follow instruction (written or verbal).
• Child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Create a nurturing and safe environment by reporting suspicious activity that may lead to child abuse or may violate the code of conduct.
• Keep supplies organized, maintain and clean facility and care for equipment.

• Physically perform all skills required of a custodian.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds. May be required to stand for extended periods of time as well as stoop, squat, and stretch. Inside and outside work that can be physically demanding.
