The Opportunity:

The Associate is responsible for analyzing reports, statements, and accounting records of an internal or external entity to ensure accurate calculations. Must have a thorough knowledge of all laws and regulations relating to accounting practices because the job is to detect and report any discrepancies within a company or other agency's financial records. If an error has occurred, it is the Associate's duty to trace it back to the source and communicate the error to his/her supervisor. This will enable the Associate to collect, process, maintain, and report accurate, reliable, and complete financial information.

Other duties include reconciling proprietary and budgetary accounts, posting account entries, reviewing federal funds control, and performing other duties assigned by supervisors. 

The following are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to lead in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Associate in performing test procedures
  • Examines accounting documents to verify accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures, and acceptable accounting standards
  • Prepares work papers and supporting documentation
  • Use current technology/tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and services.
  • Assist in the creation of proposals and other new business development efforts.

You Have:

  • A Bachelors Degree in Accounting from an accredited university
  • A minimum of a 3.0/4.0 Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • No professional experience is required; however, internship experience working as an accountant or consultant for a public accounting firm or a professional services firm preferred 
  • Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally when needed, up to 25%
  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Transcripts to share with our Recruitment Team
  • Beginner’s level of understanding in the areas of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and willingness to become familiar with AICPA, GAO, and FASAB regulations and requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Able to perform work that requires attention to detail, analytical ability, and organization
  • Skilled at using Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio

  • A master’s degree in accounting from an accredited university
  • Aspirations for a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license
  • A writing sample
  • A US Passport
  • Effective communication, which is key in explaining audit findings.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities that will help you analyze problems, evaluate alternative solutions, and make sound recommendations to address issues and improve reporting accuracy.

Clearance: 
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; a minimum of a Secretclearance is required within the first two years of your employment.

Salary

Salary at Williams Adley is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract-specific affordability, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is between $62,500.00 and $65,000.00 (annualized USD) based on experience, skills, and certifications. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Williams Adley’s total compensation package for employees.
