At Davies Career and Technical High School in Lincoln, Rhode Island, we're a lot like your local high school. Over 90% of graduates leave Davies with industry certification, with students choosing from across nine different career areas: Automotive Careers, Electrical, Machine Technology, Pre-Engineering, Bio manufacturing Technology, Cosmetology, Health Careers, Hospitality Careers, and Graphics & Interactive Media.We are currently looking to fulfill a Long-term Substitute ELA Teacher !Qualifications-RI Secondary Certification, specific to the content area: ELA-Knowledge of RIDE high school reform and current educational practices.-Demonstrated experience working effectively with students, parents, and staff. -Three years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred.-Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be appropriate and acceptable.Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned)-Develop and implement effective instruction linked to Common Core State Standards for the specific content area at the secondary level that will facilitate meaningful learning in the course competencies of the curriculum. -Responsible for the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of instruction in in the content area as required by the department.-Use evaluation results to develop individual learning goals for each student.-Collaborate with colleagues to revise and improve course curricula on an on-going basis.-Develop and implement effective teaching strategies that will allow students to master State and National standards.-Maintain student records-grades, attendance, and performance measures that assess and improve student learning.-Implement and maintain systems and protocols for effective classroom management and the establishment of a learning environment built upon mutual respect and rapport. -Promote the establishment of a productive environment for students to facilitate diversity awareness and sensitivity.-Develop yearly goals for professional development and participate in required and voluntary activities to improve educational practices and understanding of various educational initiatives.-Adhere to guidelines for Davies Policy/Procedures as well as all RI State standards, some are noted in the Personnel Rules & Regulations.-Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Academic Instruction and/or the Director/Principal.Skills Required-Communications, written and oral proficiency -Collect, analyze and disaggregate assessment data to inform low and high stakes decisions.-Analysis and critical evaluation and/or application of student work and instructional practices.-Solve complex problems and think rigorously and independently-Collaboration and teamwork -Encourage a culture of learning that values mutual responsibility, life-long learning, diversity, and ethics, as well as personal and professional development.Physical Demands-The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
