Position: Linux System Administrator
Location: Suitland, MD (onsite)
Required Clearance: TS/SCI
Salary: Negotiable
WILLCOR is hiring a Linux Systems Administrator to work at ONI in Suitland Maryland. 

Primary Responsibilities

You will be responsible for recommending and developing solutions for the Hopper Information Services Center (ISC). Additionally, you will lead and provide System Administration support for LINUX Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Mission Applications, which will include the installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Your responsibilities as System Admin will include managing systems infrastructures, identification and implementation of best practices as well as recommending system functional specifications. Additionally, your responsibilities will include the configuration of virtual and physical systems, the backup and recovery of IT systems, and implementation of critical patches. You will also review system performance logs to identify anomalies and troubleshoot any arising issues.

You will work as a team or individually to ensure all system assets are monitored and are in compliance. Also ensure that system logs are captured and reviewed, ensure the correct labeling of objects, and ensure monitorization of applications and hardware.

You will coordinate across IT domains and several teams to help influence Farragut leadership in regard to solution design, process, and approaches to ensuring Linux systems are updated and working efficiently. 

Other duties may include:

Backup and Restoration of systems: You will secure systems so that there is no loss or unknown potential loss of data from mission systems through secure system configurations and established backups of systems, system configurations, and resident data. 

Schedule Maintenance Activities: You will plan and organize all maintenance activities to minimize the disruption of Hopper systems usage. 
Change Management: You will provide suggestions necessary to update applications that require OS Updates, other updates, or addressing requests for new functionalities from users. 

Lifecycle Replacement of Hardware: You will analyze systems and provide a white paper with suggestions and specifications for the replacement of system hardware. 

You will manage the everyday responsibilities of your teams and ensure that all deliverables and tasking are completely addressed. 

You will troubleshoot and solve system-related incidents that are either detected during monitoring or are reported by the system users.

Basic Qualifications

  • Security (CE) or GSEC or SSCP
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 12 years of relevant experience or an MS with 10 years of related work experience; extra years of experience may be substituted in absence of a degree
  • 8 years of experience with systems administration
  • 10 year’s technical experience of installation, configuration, and security of server environment
  • You should have expert knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) System Administrator and Network technologies and protocols
