Sheltered English Immersion Teacher (Start: 2024/2025 School Year)Willard Elementary School (Concord, Massachusetts) seeks a highly qualified individual with SEI endorsement to teach our Sheltered English Immersion Program.The goal of the Sheltered English Immersion Program, in concert with additional Willard staff, is to provide English Language Learners (ELLs) with a comprehensive curriculum in all content to develop student’s English language skills. The program instructs students to speak, read, and write in English. Instruction is provided by teachers who are specially trained in English language acquisition or applied linguistics, and their content area. The teacher will use curricula and methodologies specifically designed to promote English language skills while teaching content area curricula. This program prepares English Language Learners (ELLs) to enter grade level general education classrooms. Students in grades K – 5 enrolled in the Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) program will receive instruction in all content areas that is aligned with the state and District curriculum standards. All English language learners will receive English as a Second language instruction. Students are formally assessed three times a year to ensure that the goals of speaking, listening, and writing in English are achieved.Responsibilities •Creatively provide an interdisciplinary course of study that integrates reading, writing, and analytical skills development in alignment with state curricular frameworks for core content areas.•Implement district learning goals and objectives using district supported curriculum as outlined in the DCAP (District Curriculum Accommodation Plan).•Create developmentally appropriate, child-centered environment that establishes positive student behavioral expectations conducive to all learners' needs through structured routines, and positive behavioral interventions.•Establish classroom structure that values positive relationships through intentional implementation of appropriate curriculum•Administer district mid-year and end-of-year assessments in accordance with district guidelines.Qualifications - Required1.Education: Hold a Bachelor’s degree. Master’s Degree preferred.2.Hold a Massachusetts Teaching License in Elementary 1-6 and hold an SEI endorsement or a dual certification in ESL.3.Meet all state and federal guidelines in order to be fully licensed and Highly Qualified.The Concord Public Schools (CPS) value linguistic diversity and believe that candidates who speak another language bring added value to the classroom, school, and district culture and diversity. CPS is particularly interested in candidates who are fluent in: Spanish, Creole (Cape Verdean), Creole (Haitian), and Portuguese.
