Willard Community Center is Hiring a School Age Director Near Lincoln, NE

Job Summary

Develops and administers all school-age programs offered through Willard Community Center. The School-Age Director also provides support to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, the Early Childhood Director, special event committees, and other areas of the Community Center as needed.

This position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week. Hours may be irregular at times.

Minimum Qualifications

Must hold a valid driver’s license

Must pass Nebraska Central Registry Check

Must pass Nebraska State Patrol fingerprinting check

A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field, three years of experience in a child care/school setting, and two years of supervisory responsibility are required.

Must be able to lift 30 pounds.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Models professional work ethic by reporting to work on time and maintaining consistent and dependable attendance.
  • Responsible for the planning and implementing school-age programs (Roper Before & After School Care, Lakeview CLC, and Non-School Weeks/All-Day Summer care).
  • Responsible for recommending fee schedules, managing individual accounts on Brightwheel, and collecting fees, monthly statements, and end-of-the-year tax statements for school-age participants.
  • Track and prepare appropriate paperwork for subsidies such as Title Twenty, Child Care Aware of America, etc., to ensure that families meet all Department of Health & Human Service requirements, Military Services, and grantors.
  • Secures continuation and maintenance of program grants.
  • Responsible for all marketing for school-age programs, including updating social media, Willard’s website, flyers, newsletters, and any communication with the public.
  • Maintains childcare licensing requirements.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, supervises, evaluates, schedules, and conducts monthly meetings with school-age staff in each program.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of written policies directing the operation of the Willard programs. These are to include daily programs, employment practices, employee handbook, and other operational practices, procedures, or concerns.
  • Assist in the development of program budgets.
  • Practice fiscal responsibility.
  • Regularly attend and be active in the professional organizations that relate to programs at Willard.
  • Maintain both food and non-food supplies for all programs.
  • Maintain staff/child ratios at sites; understand that you are a working supervisor with the ability to substitute between the working hours of 6:30 am to 6:00 pm for any Willard program.
  • Schedule parent/staff/child conferences as needed for various issues: behavior, payments, and concerns.
  • Conduct frequent program observations and collaborate with site supervisors to develop action plans as needed.
  • Assist in guiding and supervising staff about communicating sensitive subject matter to parents.
  • Support the early childhood director as needed.
  • Conduct professional and informative parent, volunteer, and donor tours.
  • Must maintain positive and professional relationships with all program participants to sustain maximum enrollment.
  • Treats people with dignity and respect and acknowledges human diversity.
  • And other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work as part of a team while retaining individual accountability.
  • Self-motivation and the ability to function independently are critical to this role.
  • Interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution, consensus building, and intuitive listening.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities. Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees in a timely manner. Supervisory responsibilities must be carried out by the organization’s policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $46,500.00 per year
