Position Information Job Title Maintenance / HVAC Technician Job Description This is a full-time position reporting to the Supervisor / Facility Maintenance.
The technician performs a variety of general maintenance duties as required and in support of HVAC systems, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.
The technician will assist the maintenance team with preventive maintenance of equipment in campus buildings and greenhouses totaling approximately 500,000 sq.
ft. and help to keep all buildings safe and in good working condition for faculty, staff, students and visitors. Performs other related duties as required.
Full Time or Part Time Full Time Essential Duties Summary Core duties will include the following :
Performs routine maintenance on the HVAC systems of the College. Duties include checking air conditioning / heating units to determine if they are functioning properly, cleaning and servicing units as necessary, changing belts as needed, changing air filters on a regular basis, etc.
and maintaining records of work completed.
Also performs maintenance of fire alarms, clocks, emergency lighting, outside lighting, electrical panels, and equipment.
Must possess and maintain a valid N.C. driver’s license.

Physical Demands Working Conditions : Moderate physical effort required involving long periods of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching overhead and periodic pushing, lifting and carrying items up to 50 lbs.
frequently traveling between buildings on campus; routine discomfort from exposure to moderate levels of heat, cold, moisture, air pollution, fumes, odors, poor ventilation, dust, chemical and mechanical hazards.
The technician often works in outdoor settings, adverse weather, or tight spaces. Because HVAC systems operate around the clock, technicians sometimes work evenings and weekends and may be on call for emergencies.
