The Physician Credentialing Specialist is responsible for all information pertaining to medical staff credentialing and privileging for the Wilkes Barre General Hospital. This person will coordinate physician and allied professionals credentialing information required for: Medical Staff governance, State and Federal regulations, Joint Commission. The Physician Credentialing Specialist will be responsible for handling all medical staff credentialing related inquiries. The Physician Credentialing Specialist will assure all credentialing records and the credentialing process meets or exceeds Joint Commission requirements for certification
Education:
Associate’s Degree or Certificate of Specialization preferred. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Certified Medical Staff Coordinator through National Association of Medical Staff Services. Knowledge of NCQA credentialing requirements. Knowledge of Joint Commission credentialing requirements. Medical Staff Office experience and credentialing experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities:
One year experience in Physician Credentialing desired, may consider applicant with comparable experience, including typing, shorthand, medical terminology, clerical accuracy, deadline oriented, organizational skills, etc. Typing, shorthand, medical terminology, editing and proofreading, communication skills, scheduling, preference for business contacts, clerical perception/accuracy, ability to meet deadlines, manual and finger dexterity. Must possess good organizational skills and enjoy detailed work. Exceptional ability to deal with highly confidential information handled during course of work day.
