Wilkes & Associates, PA is Hiring a Litigation Paralegal for Arkansas Caseload Near Tampa, FL

Overview: Tampa office of Wilkes & Associates, P.A. is looking for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant with Discovery experience. Successful candidate will be a detail oriented, self-starter who is an excellent communicator, team player, desire to excel, and extremely organized. The candidate will prepare and file discovery requests, as well as prepare and file discovery responses. Candidate will demonstrate significant knowledge of the Florida Rules of Civil Procedure along with all other applicable rules.

  • The duties of the Paralegal/Legal Assistant Discovery include, but are not limited to:
  • Drafting, responding to, and filing discovery requests.
  • Reviewing discovery requests, and responsive documents.
  • Tracking incoming discovery.
  • Drafting good faith correspondence.
  • Drafting discovery motions to compel.
  • Pull case law and assist with creating hearing notebooks for hearings.
  • Review hearing transcripts and drafting responsive Court Orders.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate preferred.
  • Knowledge of legal documents, court filings and legal procedures.
  • Experience filing in Florida E-Filing Portal and Judicial Automated Workflow System (JAWS).
  • Some knowledge of Florida Rules of Civil Procedures.
  • Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining strong attention to detail, and a willingness to adapt and learn new skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Westlaw a plus.
  • Excellent editing, proofreading, and research skills. (Writing sample will be requested)
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
  • Sense of urgency regarding deadlines.
  • Self-motivated.
