GVP, ERP and Integrations Software Development

The Group Vice President (VP) of ERP and Integrations Software Development reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), enabling the enterprise’s growth strategy through delivery and adoption of innovative technologies. The GVP of ERP and Integrations Software Development plays a thought leadership, advisory, facilitative and implementation role within the organization. They are responsible for leading and guiding the transformation roadmap, solution design, integration, architecture, infrastructure, reporting, data migration integration and legacy decommissioning for ERP and Enterprise integrated technologies across Wiley. This role requires someone who is both strategic, owns setting the overall architectural vision and strategy for ERP and enterprise applications, and hands-on, oversees the teams who deliver high quality, modern application development and provide on-going operational support for legacy and new applications.

As a senior technology leadership team member, this person will be a strategic advisor to CTO on ERP-related innovations and work closely with business leaders, IT leaders, solution architects, application architects and business analysts to validate requirements, propose and design solutions, and develop and implement integrated enterprise-wide ERP platforms and software applications. 

Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Partner and collaborate with business teams to understand objectives, validate requirements, and define advanced technical solutions that meet our overall architectural principles and requirements.
  • Define the relevant technology roadmap and ongoing architecture to standardize and rationalize the Enterprise’s application portfolio, moving functionality to ERP and modern integrated technologies while retiring legacy systems.
  • Business Process Software areas include: Title and Production Management, Rights and Royalty Management, Content and Digital Asset Management, and Authoring and Publishing platforms.
  • APIs for enterprise systems including: Product Master, Price Master, Order Management, eCommerce and payment, Financial Ledgers, Inventory Management, and CRM.
  • Develop capabilities based on a microservices architecture that supports key business processes and workflows that enable Wiley to deliver high quality products to its customers.
  • Develop and implement a data analytics strategy for the area. And collaborate on a master data strategy across Wiley.

Financial Management

  • Own the annual operational and capital expenditure budgets for the Business Solutions Services domain, including analyzing ROI of past investments and create business cases to justify new capital expenditures/investments.
  • Manage third-party vendors and software partners related to ERP platforms for aligning to roadmap, lowering costs, and ensuring they meet negotiated performance standards and SLAs.

Delivery & Support

  • Lead a global team of 300 employees & managed service contractors to develop, support, and maintain enterprise application landscape with legacy AS400 and SAP Applications that are critical to business systems and applications. 
  • Ensure business and technology teams are aligned to roadmap and delivery milestones.
  • Deliver committed work efforts at the quality guideline levels agreed with the business. Monitor and manage metrics within the ITS scorecard/Dashboard with dedicated focus of maximizing the value of IT to the business.
  • Facilitate the consistent and repeatable delivery of Business Solution Services through judicious application of standards, architectural frameworks, and maturation of processes and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other Tech leaders to prioritize programs and manage dependencies.
  • Guide the business in utilizing platform functionality to the best extent possible, including enabling continuous improvement of business processes and system integrations.
  • Lead acquisition integrations and divestiture TSAs for enterprise application platforms.

Thought Leadership

  • Advise architects and CTO about the future Wiley architecture needs for ERP and API integrations as a member of the Wiley architecture council.
  • Work with industry thought leaders to determine the latest trends in enterprise architecture and bring leading practices to the organization including, but not limited to, SAP’s product roadmap related to migration to S/4 Hana Cloud.
  • Partner with IT Core Leadership team to create new organizational and performance policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or a combination of related experience and education.
  • 15 years’ experience with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing $20M budget and delivering on multiple key initiatives in parallel in a cost-effective offshore-centric model of 300 global, owned and managed service resources.
  • Proven ability to define and get business buy-in for a 3-year end-state architecture that aligns with business goals and objectives.
  • Deep and wide knowledge, plus prior experience, with architecting and implementing large-scale transformations from legacy SAP to SAP S4/HANA Cloud specifically for Finance, Logistics, and warehouse management (electronic and physical) business processes.
  • Extensive experience in leading business and technology teams through complex legacy Enterprise system and platform transitions to adopt and operate in a new, modern ERP environment.
  • Deep understanding of API and modern API management technologies, including Kafka, and experience with transitioning ERP and API management to a public cloud.
  • Thorough understanding of the project life cycle from Requirements Definition through Post Implementation Support.
  • Experience in Scaled Agile delivery framework.
  • Experience with building and maintaining a high-performing team by inspiring and motivating team members to achieve results and creating a learning environment that encourages team members to realize their highest potential.
  • Comfortable with leading and operating in a dynamic environment that requires adaptation and agility to navigate significant change.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal leadership skills to build strategic and collaborative relationships with business stakeholders, drive decision-making, and mobilize empowered technology development teams.
  • Able to communicate complex and technical issues to diverse audiences across the enterprise, both verbally and in writing, in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Effective at negotiating with vendors to get favorable pricing and SLA terms.
