Our Cooks are essential to the dining experience at Wiley Mission! We provide our residents with carefully crafted menus using standard recipes to ensure all dietary needs are being met and pride ourselves on our ability to connect with residents, making it the highlight of their day! We provide tray line meals as well as full-service dining for our residents. Wiley offers FREE preschool to all FULL TIME employees, and a very generous discount to our Summer Camp program!
Essential Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepares meals, snacks and food for residents, staff, and any other dietary function.
- Cleans kitchen, equipment, and storage areas. Oversees proper sanitation procedures and ensures compliance of weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Ensures proper operation of all food service equipment and reports any concerns to the manager.
- Monitors for compliance with County and Department of Health standards.
- Follows dietary standards for special diets ordered for residents.
- Presents attractive plates with fresh, wholesome, and nutritious foods in a cost-effective manner; presents food properly seasoned; presents food on time and at proper temperatures; and prepares meals of proper quality.
- Follows recipes for food and provides food in sufficient quantity according to resident census.
- Ensures daily temperature logs are maintained with use of functioning thermometers in all cold storage units.
- Properly follows FIFO guidelines for all products.
- Coordinates necessary preparation for next day’s meals.
- Attends in-services and all required trainings.
- Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- High school education or GED
- SERV safe Certification encouraged; training/certification can be provided after probationary period
- Ability to supervise and direct others
- Ability to work in close cooperation with others
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
