JOB SUMMARY: A retail associate for Wilderness at the Smokies is responsible for maintaining outstandingcustomer service, generating sales, merchandising, and safeguarding company assets. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time. Ensure that each guest receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment, which includes greeting and acknowledging every guest, being knowledgeableregarding the opening/closing schedules of all Wilderness outlets, maintaining product knowledge, assisting guests in selection of merchandise, and being knowledgeable about local attractions.Be aware of all promotions and advertisements including special packages and discounts.Assist in merchandising, display maintenance and housekeeping.Process and replenish merchandise.Monitor floor stock and re-stock from inventory.Inspect all merchandise for flaws and keep a record of any merchandise to be returned to vendor.Ticket merchandise.Keep in-stock inventory records current.Maintain proper records regarding count of merchandise to be received into inventory and record any damaged merchandise to be excluded from inventory.Assist in physical inventory.Communicate guest requests to manager.Ring up sales and bag merchandise.Be willing to cross-train and work in Wild Pix Retail Sales, as needed.All other duties as assigned by management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: N/A QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and operating procedures/instructions. Proficiency in English language is required in order to effectively communicate with guests/associates. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one, or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS: Willingness to perform any required task within associate’s capabilities in order to effectively meet the needs of the company/guests. Must be able to assist in moving display furniture, as needed. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the associate may be regularly exposed to wet and or humid conditions; extreme heat and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS: Use proper safety procedures including bending, lifting and safe use of equipment. Alert to resolving and reporting situations, obstacles and objects that could pose a safety concern for guests, associates and self. Uses PPE equipment, as required, to reduce associate risk against hazards. Follows proper procedures concerning protection against blood borne pathogens.
