LOCATION: Wild Horse Pass Corporate Center
COMPENSATION: $62,500-$76,000 DOE
HOURS OF WORK: 40 hours per week, Full-Time
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
SUPERVISORY: No
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
Summary:
The Project Accountant at Wild Horse Pass Development Authority plays a pivotal role in the financial management of various projects and development undertaken by the organization. Working closely with project managers and financial teams, the Project Accountant ensures accurate financial reporting, and compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across different departments.
Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis and Reporting:
  • Analyze project financial data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Compile and prepare timely financial reports detailing project expenses, revenues, and forecasts.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial analysis to enhance project performance and efficiency.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into instances where project expenses that may have exceeded contractual agreements.
  • Detailing remaining projects to management for additional projects.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
  • Assist in the development of project budgets in collaboration with project managers and stakeholders.
  • Monitor project expenses against approved budgets and identify variances.
  • Forecast future project financial performance based on current trends and anticipated changes.
  • Keep track of project budgets, billings, estimates, and costs.
Financial Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and support.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and regulations affecting project accounting.
Project Coordination:
  • Collaborate with project managers to understand project milestones, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Provide financial guidance and support to project teams to facilitate decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to address any financial concerns or inquiries related to projects.
Documentation and Recordkeeping:
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for all project transactions.
  • Ensure documentation is complete and accessible for audits and reviews.
  • Archive project financial data and records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts are required as a normal part of this position.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk extended period. The employee occasionally is required to bend, climb, stoop, lift, carry, push, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 15 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field OR 3 years of experience in Accounting
  • Proven experience in project accounting or a similar role, preferably in a construction or development environment.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for client meetings and events.
  • Valid AZ driver's license, provide a 39-month satisfactory MVR report.
  • Obtain a Tribal operator driving permit at the time of hire.
  • A satisfactory result obtained through a test for illegal drugs.
  • Acknowledge and agree to maintain a drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA Certification.
  • Strong proficiency in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting techniques.
  • Excellent understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in accounting software, MS office and other relevant workplace tools.
  • Knowledge and experience working with Gila River Indian Community or other Native American Communities.
