Job Description
Join our CDM Smith team in Chicago! We are growing the team and this is an excellent opportunity to participate in client-focused activities and take on leadership and client-oriented tasks. In addition to working on IDOT projects and projects with local agencies in Illinois, you will have the opportunity to work on transportation projects with regional clients including Indiana and Michigan.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by;
Driving day-to-day technical content coordination and ensuring high-quality delivery.
Defining consistent expectations as the technical content leader on transportation projects.
Establishing consistency and efficiency in project delivery across the organization.
Perform project quality management, technical disciplines integration, and Intellectual Property reuse, especially on multi-discipline design projects.
Establish design criteria, develop horizontal and vertical alignments, perform superelevation design, etc.
Review and Preparation of design calculations for roadway-related design tasks.
Production level proficiency with IDOT Design Manuals and Guidelines
Production level proficiency with Bentley MicroStation Open Roads Designer
Preparation of contract documents
Production level experience in 3D modelling and plan development.
Develop contract special provisions and cost estimates
Perform field work to document condition assessments and existing conditions.
Implementation of corporate Quality Assurance Plan.
Collaborates with sales staff to create proposals in response to current and potential client requests for proposal (RFPs).
Attends conferences, symposia, etc. to improve the visibility of the firm's products and services in collaboration with applicable sales staff.
Provides technical guidance and training to more junior staff.
Mentors more junior staff and develops them for future growth within the discipline and firm.
Supervise the work of junior engineers on project work.
Minimum Qualifications
-Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
-Professional engineering (PE) license. 7 years of related experience.
-Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
-Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
