Job Description
Prepares detail and/or general arrangement drawings and sketches of unusual, complex, or original designs. Performs basic calculations using accepted formulas and references per firm standards. Prepares complete sets of construction drawings which will include multiple views (sections and plans etc.), detail drawings, and assembly drawings indicating components of equipment, facilities, or systems where minimal information is provided by rough sketches and/or verbal outlines of requirements. Uses advanced knowledge of 3D/4D design/drafting techniques on a daily basis. Assigns tasks to lower-level design/drafting personnel, provides technical guidance, and reviews completed assignments for accuracy and adherence to the project's standards and procedures. Interfaces with other departments, clients, vendors, and project engineers in order to support project production and to resolve conflicting priorities. Reviews manufacturers' or fabricators' prints to aid in design. Provides lower-level design/drafting personnel with design sketches for preparation of finished design drawings, general layouts, and guidance in refining technical requirements. Provides conceptual layouts to projects during the planning stages and supports field assignments as required. Ensures overall consistency, quality and technical accuracy of CADD and/or 3D/4D documents on design projects. Establishes design criteria for all phases of a project requiring the application of basic engineering principles, material properties, and a familiarity with construction, installation, and maintenance procedures. Establishes manpower requirements, man-hour estimates, and completion schedules. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent with vocational technical training in basic CADD drafting technology and/or 3D drafting. 10 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands. Equivalent additional directly related experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Skills and Abilities
Good communication skills with strict attention to detail. Demonstrates ability to be a team player. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office for design related tasks and discipline specific design/analysis software primarily within the CADD environment. Flexible, versatile and well versed in routinely performing complex design/drafting assignments and 3D/4D assignments.
