Position Title: Lead Barista 

Job Summary:

The lead barista has proven ability to provide quality customer service and demonstrated knowledge of coffee products, equipment, and tea products. The lead barista has responsibility for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. He/she is also responsible for making a difference to our customers by educating them about our premium coffees and teas. Lead baristas are instrumental in building customer relationships and fostering a positive and friendly store environment. They also provide technical guidance to new team members and assist in the training program. The lead barista fulfills any other duties the regional manager assigns and represents Wicked Voodoo Espresso LLC in a professional manner. All team members are expected to support the Core Values and follow the House Rules.

Product:

• Educates our customers on the superior quality of Company products and services.
• Weighs, grinds and packs coffee per customers’ orders according to Company guidelines.
• Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
• Sells and serves products to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Continues to learn and educate themselves on whole bean knowledge, coffee blends, tea products, bakery items, coffee brewing, and blended products.
• Participates in all sales promotions effectively and efficiently.
• Safely handles all hot and cold drinks during drink preparation.
• Ensures that all customers are educated on our products and services.
• Maintains the highest quality, consistent product standards.
• Follows all Company drink recipes and procedures.
• Passes monthly re-certifications in a timely manner.

Service:

• Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with our customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
• Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner.
• Handles all customer complaints and/ or reaches out to the manager for assistance to help.
• Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
• Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greeting, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.
• Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, preparation, and product freshness.
• Weighs, grinds and packs coffee per customers’ orders according to Company guidelines.
• Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
• Maintains efficient, friendly service standards and demonstrates such standards when training other team members.

Environment:

• Provides superior services and promotes a friendly, comfortable environment by providing fast and friendly service. Perpetuates Company Core Values and House Rules.
• Restocks shelves, when necessary.
• Routinely cleans the bar area, floor, windows and grinders, and takes out trash.
• Assists in the ordering and distribution of weekly shipments and maintains a clean and organized storage room.
• Eliminates and/or reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty.
• Reports all employee accidents to the manager and starts proper injury documentation.
• Assists to fix and informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies.

Requirements, Qualifications & Physical Demands 

• Runs errands, when needed.
• Works special events, as needed.
• Maintains positive Company morale.
• Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
• Must have successfully completed the master espresso, bean and tea classes.
• Must have received a meets expectation or above on their most recent performance review and not have received any disciplinary actions within the prior three months.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate and train fellow team members in The Wicked Voodoo standards.
• Experience in retail/specialty store or food establishment preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Well-organized and detail oriented.
• Register and cash handling experience.
• Monitor, audit, and deposit daily deposits
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
• Regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear.
• Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
• Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds.
• Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust and focus.
• Regularly required to handle food and hot beverages.

• Be available! This is a full-time job, you should be available at least 40 hours a week, have a flexible schedule as your workdays and hours may change as needed.

• Have excellent communication. Communicate all necessary information to your employees, give constant feedback to your manager.
• Be a Cheerleader for your team! Cheer them on when they are doing well, Coach them up when they need assistance. Cheer for your site to be the best!
• Mathematically inclined. Basic math skills are a must, you will be in charge of the money for the site.

• A desire to learn! Will always want to better yourself and your team. Keep learning, keep learning, always striving toward being better with more success.
• Must have problem solving skills. Have the ability to troubleshoot and come to solutions.
