The National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) Automation Research Center (ARC) is a trailblazer in the realm of robotics and industrial automation, dedicated to crafting innovative solutions that redefine efficiency, productivity, and precision. We are seeking a dynamic Automation Technician to join our accomplished team and contribute to the creation and optimization of cutting-edge control systems that power our advanced robotic and industrial equipment.

Summary of Responsibilities:

Responsible for using engineering techniques to assist team in the design, build, and installation of automation projects.

Essential Functions:

• Performs controls wiring of equipment.
• Makes technical diagrams and/or schematics.
• Assists team in design and build of projects.
• Assists with mentoring and providing guidance to student team members.
• Assists with equipment specifications, quotes, and procurement.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to work with hand tools and equipment.
• Working knowledge of general preventative maintenance.
• Ability to read/interpret technical orders and/or manuals.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently in a self-directed manner.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent by hire date.
• Six (6) months of related experience with basic knowledge of programming and CAD.
