Whitworth University is Hiring a Security Services Coordinator Near Spokane, WA

Position Summary

The Security Service Coordinator plays a crucial role in campus security operations by coordinating administrative tasks, processing citations and appeals, and managing the vehicle registration program. This role also functions as the department's dispatcher.

Core Responsibilities

Security Service Coordinator and Dispatcher | 70 %

  • Schedule and organize meetings and maintain agendas.
  • Manage the security, parking, and citation email accounts.
  • Hire, train, and supervise student employees.
  • Assist in organizing incident report forms.
  • Coordinate and schedule on-site visits for faculty job interviews.
  • Build positive relations within the team, campus community and external parties, especially local law enforcement.
  • Provide administrative support using the Internet and Microsoft applications, including office machines in the department.
  • Create and maintain files and archives, and generate reports for the department, as needed.
  • Assist in overseeing adherence to office policies and procedures, analyze and monitor internal processes, and implement procedural and policy changes to improve operational efficiency.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and implementing departmental programs and activities.
  • Support job searches, including coordinating on-site candidate visits and participating in the interview process.
  • Coordinate dispatch operations, prioritize incoming calls, maintain officer location awareness and officer safety, and ensure effective communication with emergency services.
  • Monitor alarms and security camera feeds, triage calls for assistance, and dispatch personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintain a record of all calls and incidents and respond to walk-ins and customer requests at the security office.
  • Work closely with other communication employees, security officers, and various departments on campus and act as a liaison between campus and outside agencies such as Spokane law enforcement and fire departments.
  • Activate the university emergency notification systems and call 911 when necessary.
  • Maintain and update emergency communications plans for the department to be consistent with university plans and standards.
  • Perform general security duties to protect life and property, including routine building checks for fire, trespassers, property damage, safety hazards, and mechanical equipment operations.
  • Conduct investigations related to incidents such as theft, vandalism, vehicle accidents, and personal injury accidents.
  • Assist county or state officials in emergencies and non-emergency situations.
  • Respond to medical and non-medical emergencies and perform basic first aid when necessary.
  • Manage and control traffic flow and parking on Whitworth University's premises, as well as enforce the institution's vehicle policies.
Vehicle registration and citations | 20 %
  • Manage the campus vehicle parking registration process and procedures.
  • Manage Personal Transportation Devices Registration and Enforcement.
  • Oversee the purchase and distribution of decals.
  • Prepare monthly and yearly reports, record and submit parking citations to student accounts, and facilitate the parking appeals process.
  • Update and audit registration records, analyze registration and citation data and report repeated violations to the director.
  • Serve on the Parking Task Force.
Other | 10%
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Details

Schedule
Full-time (1.0 FTE) | 12 months | 40 hours per week
Flexibility to work varying shifts and hours and the ability to work overtime as requested or directed is also necessary. In addition, the successful candidate should be available to be on campus for emergencies or crises.
