Wound Care Treatment Nurse
Essential Functions:

1. Administers treatments as ordered by the physician in compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health Minimum Standards and facility policies.

2. Assess/ Evaluate and documents skin integrity of all new admissions within 72 hours. All treatments must be documented on a weekly basis.

3. Initiates and completes MDS section M for residents with wounds.

4. Supervises the care given to residents in activities of daily living by CNA’s and private duty staff including the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

5. Professional Collaboration - Participates with other team members in developing, implementing and updating the therapeutic and rehabilitative plans of care for each resident.

6. Timely completion of wound reports, narrative notes, MDS, and other forms as required.

7 Keeps clinical records in compliance with Illinois Department of Public Health Minimum Standards and Whitehall North policies.

8. Participates in education and teaching of team members, families and where possible, residents.

9. Communicates effectively and tactfully with the resident’s physician and family members

10. Consistent and professional communication with the nursing supervisor, ADON, DON and Director of Wound Care

11. Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

Current State of Illinois RN or LPN license

2 years of experience with Wound Care

Knowledge of nursing care for geriatric population specifically related to acute and chronic illness

Preferred Education and Experience

Certified in Wound Care & Ostomy

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Local requirements and regulations, including JCAHO, CMS, CDC, and IDPH as it pertains to Long Term Care.
