Schedules procedures at the surgery center and hospital. • Provides patient education, to include procedure instructions. • Manages providers procedure schedules and ensures that any cancellation and reschedule requests are processed in a timely manner. • Initiates medication hold requests for blood thinners and cardiac clearances as needed • Provides medication adjustment directions to patients related to procedures to include but not limited to, diabetic medication, anticoagulation therapy, iron and phentermine • Acts as a liaison between the preadmission staff and scheduling departments to include communicating any cancellations, reschedules and any medical issues effecting the schedule. • Sends pre-procedure medication or preps, addresses all prior authorization requests related to pre-procedure medication or preps, and provides coupons/samples to patients when able. • Responds to and refers incoming calls. • Cross trains in other roles in the department to help with staffing needs as necessary. • Assist in obtaining prior authorization for procedures as needed. • Fax appropriate documents to outside specialist as needed. • Performs related duties as needed. • Consistently displays a positive attitude and a personal commitment to excellence. • Maintains basic knowledge of medical coding and keeps abreast of annual changes and updates. • Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliations. • Attends all department meetings and clinic required meetings. • Maintains strict confidentiality.
