The White River Valley Supervisory Union is seeking a full time Middle School Technology Teacher to provide learning opportunities to the students in our district, beginning July 1, 2024. The White River Valley Supervisory Union is located in the beautiful and picturesque White River Valley of Vermont. The White River Valley is approximately 25 minutes from Killington/Pico Ski Resort and 12 miles from Saskadena Six ski mountain. The White River flows through our districts making canoeing and kayaking very convenient after work or on the weekends.

To know more about the SU please visit our website: www.wrvsu.orgThe Middle School Technology Teacher is directly responsible for delivering a multi-level approach to technology instruction, focused on Design Thinking principles, coding, and the fundamentals necessary to utilize the technologies at our disposal. The Middle School Technology Teacher works closely with the Middle School Principal and the Flexible Pathways Program to design and implement school and community-based projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Must hold or be eligible for a Vermont Educators License with the appropriate endorsement for Design and Technology Education (4-10).ESSENTIAL DUTIES: not limited to the following;Work collaboratively in a professional learning community with teachers, support staff and others as appropriate, in addressing the needs of students.To foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. To monitor student progress toward mastery of the instructional goals and objectives. To communicate effectively with the educational community and parents/guardians on a regular basis. Collaborate with classroom teachers to create technology lessons to support teaching objectivesTo offer, throughout the school year, exploratory classes that are consistent with Board policy and have prior approval by the building principal.
To conduct an advisory group as assigned by the principalTo inventory equipment and maintain proper condition and storage of equipment. To advise the principal of the presence of any situation that may require immediate intervention so as not to hinder the instructional program. To supervise students at all times in accordance with school policies.To attend all faculty senate and other required meetings. To fulfill annual continuing education requirements and attend other required training programs.
To accept reasonable extra duty assignments necessary for a successful school program. Develop innovative lessons to challenge 21st century learnersCreate co-curricular educational activities in the design lab. A goal of the design lab is to engage a community that spans the breadth of the supervisory union and includes those who do not see themselves as makers, designers, and innovators. The programs in the design lab will seek to engage our community in a fun low-barrier fashion that will both introduce them to making and educate them while encouraging them to return to the design lab.
Lab management: Maintain the Makerspace equipment so that it is functional and safe, and manage inventory including making all inventory purchases, as well as updating software and equipment with relevant patches and updatesAdvise on new equipment purchases, and upholding a working knowledge of what equipment and tools are becoming most useful or necessary in the field of making.Work in partnership with the Generator, Burlington, Community School Coordinator, Flexible Pathways/Work Based Learning Coordinators, WRVMS Principal, and WRVSU Superintendent to manage programming, community & WBL connections, budget, and planned expenditures for the space.To perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
