Summary
The Patient Accounts Representative is responsible for providing various support within the Medical (Hospital Centralized
Business) Billing Department. This position involves collecting and managing accounts, following up with insurance companies, reconciling accounts, filing corrected claims, appealing claims when appropriate, assisting in posting cash, adjustments and customer service support.
This position will assist as needed all teams within the Business Office to help overall operations and revenue optimization.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following :
2. Posts payments and reconciles account balances
3. Processes patient and insurance refunds
4. Reviews open accounts for account reconciliation and next steps to resolve open balances
5. Contacts patients and insurance carriers as needed to resolve open balances and account issues
6. Reviews claims and bill scrubber edits to ensure claims are billed and submitted appropriately
7. Communicates with ancillary departments and agencies regarding account errors, billing edits, denials and charge issues
8. Reviews payments for accuracy and appropriate account distribution
9. References contracts for payment and balance accuracy
10. Answers calls as needed and provides support to customer service
11. Responds to correspondence and emails timely and with accuracy
12. Posts adjustments as needed and directed to resolve open balances
13. Reviews and works denials as needed, updates and drafts appeals as needed to carriers to resolve open account balances
14. Reviews open AR to identify and resolve accounts receivable as well as escalate issues as needed
15. Composes and types routine correspondence, memos, letters, etc.
16. Responsible for updating the patient accounts' system with information and notes as needed
17. Responsible for timely completion of projects and tasks as assigned by management and feedback on outcomes
18. Performs all other related duties as assigned
19. HBI certification certificate required prior to end of probationary period
Education & Experience Requirements
ï · High School Diploma or GED required
ï · 2-5 years previous Hospital business office experience required. Ability to type 45wpm
ï · Medical terminology required
ï · Ability to use basic office equipment and knowledge of CTR computer terminals a plus

Salary Range : $ 55,187.74- 80,782.07 The salary range and / or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
When determining a team member's base salary and / or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).
