We are looking for a talented Field Associate that will visit all construction sites to assist with active projects. The Field Associate helps with time management, labor, and materials, for projects. Completes a full scope estimate of work that needs to be done such as mechanical, roofing, electrical, drywall repairs, and flooring for each of the properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine the overall cost for construction projects.
  • Assist Project Manager with preparation of estimates for entering into job cost.
  • Complete field notes and capture photographs of worksites.
  • Visit any location sites necessary to complete an estimate.
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with key vendors.
  • Stays up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction.
  • Estimate materials needed for various projects and have such materials on hand. Also, cost out projects from start to finish.
  • Constructs and repairs tables, benches, cabinets, counters, and other wood equipment.
  • May perform or assist in other related building trades, such as plumbing, painting and electrical work.
  • Records time and material used on various projects.
  • Executes purchase orders authorized by the field project manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • One to five years as a construction estimator or in construction administration.
  • Familiarity with construction best practices, general building codes, and various building types.
  • Understanding of market prices, measuring windows, measuring square footage.
  • Knows life expectancy of water meter, gas meter, and roof.
  • Critical-thinker and problem-solver.
  • Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures involved in the carpentry and building trade.
  • Considerable knowledge of the tools, materials and supplies used in the trade and in their application.
  • Knowledge of the care and safe usage of power tools.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards of the trade and of the proper use of safety devices and practices.
  • Knowledge of the qualities and uses of various wood.
  • Ability to work from sketches or blueprints.
  • Ability to plan, layout and perform carpentry work of average difficulty.
  • Ability to inspect lumber for grade and quality.
  • Ability to adhere to tight schedules and still maintain work quality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Skill in the care and use of the tools, materials and equipment common to the trade.
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or vocational school. Experience as a journeyman carpenter or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in this work; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills may be considered.
