Nursing assistants are one of the professionals who play important roles in the field of health care. They implement various kinds of tasks under the supervision of registered nurses as well as other health care professionals. Elderly people, otherwise known as geriatric, are among the clients who often rely on assistance from nursing assistants. Individuals working for the elderly are referred to as geriatric nursing assistants.

It is the primary duty of the geriatric nursing assistant to provide the clients with routine daily nursing care as well as services. The services they render must be by the assessment or care plan which are directed according to the supervisors. The nursing assistant will be held responsible or accountable for the interventions that are being carried out for the clients.

• Dressing the clients
• Bathing the patients
• Feeding the residents and making sure that aspiration is prevented
• Bedridden clients must be moved and re-positioned to prevent the formation of bed sores or pressure ulcers
• Changing of the bed linens
• Taking the vital signs which include the temperature, pulse rate, and blood pressure
• Transporting the patients or providing assistance during mobility
• Doing documentation or recording the care that has been provided to the clients
