WHIRLEY-DRINKWORKS is Hiring a Receiving Clerk Near Warren, PA

JOB SUMMARY

Receives in all merchandise and supplies to be shipped to Whirley Industries. Verifies quantity and item information against all purchase orders and inspects product for damage. Performs receiving transactions in IQMS. Ensure the delivery of these items to the proper location/purchaser. Puts away product in warehouse. Processes customer returns. Performs other responsibilities as assigned.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Receiving

  • Physically verifies quantity and product of each box received with a packing slip supplied. If no packing slip is provided, one is written up for record keeping.
  • Labels and scans all inventory items into IQMS.
  • Completes a shortage form when shortages are found. A copy is made to use as a packing slip when product is received.
  • Notates on packing slip any discrepancies found. Alerts purchaser of what was shipped and how the product does not match the IQMS purchase.
  • Supplies a copy of each packing slip in the boxes for purchaser’s review.
  • Directs or delivers supplies to the appropriate individuals or departments. Coordinates the items for the other buildings with the hand/truck shuttles each day. Notifies these individuals via email, identifying which shuttle was used. May tell the vendors name and box counts if the working time left in the day permits.
  • Performs receipt of supplies through entry in IQMS. Verifies that the product received matches quantity and part number ordered.
  • Contacts appropriate individuals of items received which cannot be entered into IQMS. Works through to completion, so items can be received in a timely fashion.
  • Works with the Accounts Payable Clerk with invoices received with no receipt or a receipt that does not match.
  • Logs all items that do not have a purchase order number, for future reference.
  • Contacts Accounting Supervisor when problems occur with receipts not working in IQMS. Works through to completion, so item can be received into IQMS in a timely fashion.
  • Receives into IQMS inventory all packing items (indirect materials) for production and workshops. Places all items in proper rack locations for future use.
  • Receives and checks quantity of all items made in the Bakery Building for the production of our products.
  • Maintains files of all receiving slips for future use. Files in folders marked by the week and then by the month. At the end of the year, these are boxed up and sent to the Accounting Department for record keeping
  • Notifies Material Handling Supervisors, items that have been received into “Receiving” that have been inspected and can be moved into rack locations
  • Contacts Technical Assistant to the Quality Manager for any items that are routed into Quality Inspection locations. A copy of the packing slip and sample is provided immediately.
  • Checks in import containers and coordinates labor to unload at offsite facilities.

Customer Returns

  • Receives in all customer returns of our product. Responsible for supplying all proper information on each return to the Credit Services Department.
  • Enters all the information in the RMA system.
  • Enters a customer Support Issue for product that has no RMA# assigned. These consist of products that was refused, damaged or wrong addresses.
  • Processes the returned product to the appropriate location. This includes doing the proper location scan in IQMS.

Inventory Control

  • Operates radio frequency scanners to maintain accurate inventory levels and storage locations.
  • Ensures 100% accuracy of labeled incoming products for IQMS scanning and use throughout the production facilities.

Safety, Housekeeping and ASI -

  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or contacts outside service facility for repairs.
  • Operates powered industrial trucks, sit down and walk ride to move materials to and from locations. Completes a forklift checklist prior to operation. Refers all problems to vehicle maintenance for repair. Adheres to traffic safety program.
  • Safeguards shipping operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols. Enforces outside driver safety policies.
  • Ensures that all operations are performed with the utmost regard for the safety and health of all personnel involved.
  • Makes housekeeping a day-to-day practice by ensuring that the guidelines for “Manufacturers of Food Packaging” are followed as a matter of routine. Internal inspections should result in few, if any, corrective actions. Corrective actions must be addressed in a timely fashion and not repeat in subsequent Whirley inspections.
  • Restacks leaning boxes and replaces damaged boxes or pallets.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned in a manner that encourages teamwork and sets a positive example.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requires high school diploma or equivalent. Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to multi-task. Certification for sit down forklifts, reach trucks and walk-rides is preferred and will ultimately be required before an introductory period can be completed. Must possess ability to type and strong mathematical skills. Good manual dexterity and color discrimination. Working knowledge with Excel & Word software programs, Microsoft Outlook and IQMS is preferred. Must be a self-starter and able to do all jobs daily as needed, with little supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Prolonged standing, lifting, and moving 45lbs . Operate pallet jack daily. Operate powered industrial trucks.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Driving records for TeamMates holding positions requiring the operation of powered industrial trucks will be subject to a periodic review from a third party. Failure to maintain an acceptable driving record could result in job loss or reassignment. 

Drivers with unacceptable driving records would include those with one or more of the following violations:

  • Conviction for an alcohol and/or drug related driving offense
  • Refusal to submit to a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) test
  • Conviction for reckless driving
  • Any combination of 3 or more moving violations, “at fault accidents”, or “preventable accidents” within the most recent 3 years
  • Suspension, revocation, or administrative restriction within the last 3 years
  • Leaving the scene of an accident as defined by State laws
  • At fault in a fatal accident
  • Felony committed involving a vehicle
  • Three or more “Company vehicle” physical damage claims in any 12 month period
