Automotive Shop Foreman/Lead Technician

Earn $52,000 to $77,400 /yr (based on experience)

**ASE Certification is preferred, but not required for this position**

Our service department business, at Wheel of Chicago, is BOOMING!! As a result, we are in need of an Automotive Shop Foreman/Lead Technician. We are looking for a candidate who possesses the right balance of automotive technician/mechanic experience, leadership/management skills, and strong commitment to customer service.

Job Responsibilities Include:

-Supervise the day-to-day operations of the service shop; manage the staff, assignment of work, and quality of job completion

-Manage a team of technicians in all aspects of productivity including quoting, diagnostics, and invoicing

-Schedule work in accordance with the availability of employees, labor laws and monitor the attendance of the staff

-Coordinate daily tasks in accordance to priorities and plans, delegating responsibilities and projects to mechanics

-Mentor, manage and train new service employees

-Manage inventory, supplies and equipment for the Service Department

-Communicate with service personnel and customers regarding service repairs

-Oversee and ensure that safety rules are being followed at all times

-Road test vehicles

-Additional tasks assigned by management

Ideal Candidate:

-ASE Certifications a HUGE plus

-Automotive technician/mechanic experience, minimum 3 yrs experience preferred

-Prior Lead Technician experience, minimum 1 yrs experience preferred

-Prior shop foreman experience a huge PLUS

-Prior management experience

-Working knowledge of automotive systems and the ability to accurately problem solve

-Strong Diagnostic and trouble-shooting skills

-Management and leadership skills with the ability to train and build a winning team

-Good communication skills; providing the ability to communicate with service staff, vendors & customers

-Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

-Must be on time and dependable

-Must possess a valid US Driver's License with a good driver history

-Must be at least 23 years of age
