Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the After-School Program Director, the Parent Liaison will be the primary
point of contact for all participant families, including, but not limited to, behavioral concerns, incident
reports, resources for families, programmatic updates, and information distribution. As part of this
effort the Parent Liaison will serve as a core member of the program’s supervisory team which includes
regular classroom observations (of both students and staff members), managing difficult behaviors with
children and overseeing line staff.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review observation/incident reports regularly and in a timely manner. Assess which reports
need to have follow up with students, staff, and/or families. Take appropriate follow-up actions
and inform the program director of any noteworthy or consistent reports.
  • Assist with program supervision, from arrival through dismissal daily. This includes, but is not
limited to, conducting rounds, doing classroom observations, addressing staff about concerns as
needed, and addressing students about behavioral concerns and/or incidents.
  • Be available for parent/family meetings; must be empathetic and sensitive.
  • Connect families to resources as needed. Liaise with Family Support Department.
  • Reach out to families regarding attendance and early pick up concerns regularly.
  • Assist with onboarding new staff including paperwork and training.
  • Send monthly calendar and newsletter to families.
  • Plan and execute 3 parent/family events per year.
  • Plan and execute monthly family workshops, which may or may not involve outside presenters.
  • Other projects as they arise.
  • Attend weekly supervisors and staff meetings.
  • Encourage students to positively participate in all after-school programming and activities.
  • Assist in and occasionally lead the planning and implementation of special events.
  • Supervise trips when necessary.
  • Attend all required staff/planning meetings.
  • Take on special assignments which pertain to the goals and objectives of the after-school
program.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five years professional experience working with children in an after-school, or
community-based environment leading/organizing activities. Substantial volunteer work will be
considered.
  • Experience with data entry and management.
  • Experience in the field of education, child development, community development and/or
psychology.
  • Able to work Monday-Friday, from 10:00AM -6:00 PM.
  • Well organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Previous work experience in low-income communities.

Excellent benefits and competitive salary ($60,000-$70,000) based on experience.
