WHEDA is seeking a Program Specialist to join our Single Family Loan Operations and Capital Markets team in our Madison facility

SALARY: Hiring Range for this position is from $20.84 to $24.24 Hourly. Offered wage will be based on qualifications and internal pay equity. WHEDA provides a competitive salary and WHEDA employees participate in the State of Wisconsin benefit package which includes retirement, health insurance and deferred compensation programs.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Program Specialist position in Loan Operations and Capital Markets is responsible for reviewing and processing loan applications and loan documentation within compliance with WHEDA, investor and regulatory requirements. This position may also process interest rate lock requests and funding requests from lending partners. Competency in one or more of the following specialties: Package Entry, Lockdesk and funding and/or post‐closing processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 

  • Package Entry: Review and process single family loan applications including data entry to prepare loan files for underwriting or purchase review; including splitting and indexing loan documentation related to borrower’s income, assets, credit, collateral, and regulatory disclosures.
  • Lockdesk and Funding: Process rate lock requests and loan funding requests from our lending partners. Preform pipeline management functions by following up with lending partners to obtain updated loan status information. Process and review original Notes, upon receipt.
  • Review and process trailing documentation for closed loans, including review of final title policies, recorded mortgage documents and other closing documents. Complete monthly follow up with lending partners to ensure receipt of critical trailing documentation.
  • Review and prepare loan documentation for submission to investors and/or document custodians.
  • Provide customer support for lending partners.
  • Assists in coordinating and carrying out the day‐to‐day operations of the Loan Operations and Capital Markets department.
  • Participates in analysis of selecting/implementing new and existing software and formulating/modifying new and existing policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Performs or assists with other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. AND 0 ‐ 2 years of relevant experience; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

Proficiency with computer software, Microsoft Office, and the internet

  • Mortgage lending regulations, practices, procedures, and applicable federal, state, and local laws
  • Customer service principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including preparation of business correspondence
  • Attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot for process improvement
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work under pressure
  • Successful prioritizing and management of work projects
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Strong adherence to confidentiality in working with clients and vendors
