Wheaton College is Hiring a Digital Content Specialist Near Norton, MA

The Digital Content Specialist assists in the development of copy for digital environments: website, blog, campaign landing pages, and advertising. This role ensures that messaging is aligned with Wheaton’s brand and that projects are accurate, engaging, and appropriate to their goals, medium, and audience.
The Digital Content Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Digital Marketing in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment. The Digital Content Specialist is a strong collaborator who works closely with graphic designers, other content creators, and strategists to ensure the highest quality and effectiveness in marketing communications.
The Digital Content Specialist possesses a great command of writing for the web, blogs, campaign landing pages, and advertising.
  • Develop and execute a content strategy that is aligned with Wheaton’s brand that attracts, converts, and retains prospective students, families, and donors
  • Write clear marketing copy to promote Wheaton College and its programs and ensure the brand voice and tone are clear and consistent across platforms
  • Collaborate with partners and clients throughout the college to write and edit copy so that it is appropriate to a broader audience or the medium in which it will be presented
  • Conduct keyword research and use SEO guidelines to increase web traffic, prepare well-structured drafts in WordPress, coordinate with designers and multimedia producers to illustrate content, and update the website as needed
  • Work closely with the Communications, Brand, and Program Marketing teams to review projects, and provide editorial support to ensure Wheaton’s brand voice is clear and consistent

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, creative writing, journalism, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, including the ability to work within and maintain an established editorial style
  • Proven ability to translate brand voice into consumable content through storytelling
  • Proven ability to create compelling and creative content in a variety of digital formats
  • Strong understanding of copyright and intellectual property laws as it pertains to editorial and marketing content
  • Strong understanding of SEO practices as it relates to content creation
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with a wide range of colleagues and clients
  • Ability to research and work independently

To attract and retain the most talented individuals, Wheaton College maintains a flexible and competitive staff compensation and benefits program.
When determining and establishing hiring rates or recruitment ranges for a position, the College considers a number of factors including the budget for the position, the range of the grade, the external market for the position or similar positions, level and scope of responsibilities, required education, skills and relevant experience as well as internal equity. All salary offers must have the prior approval of the Office of Human Resources.
The anticipated hiring or recruitment range for this position is $60,000-$65,000.
