Project EngineerWharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Engineer position our Ft. Myers Commercial construction division. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of specific tasks as assigned by the Project Manager. This position will also interface with the Project Superintendent, Project Assistant, subcontractors, design consultants, and owner/client.A 4-year degree in engineering, architecture or construction, the ability to read and understand construction documents and plans are highly desirable. Computer skills and the ability to learn quickly are a must. This is an entry-level position which can lead to the career path of Project Management.Primary ResponsibilitiesMaintain Project logs (i.e. Submittal Log, RFI log, etc.).Maintain and update schedules.Identify need for and write RFI’s.Prepare, review and process shop drawings.Maintain as-built drawings.Collect and assemble O&M materials.Purchase Order and Subcontract Scope analysis and drafting.Material purchasing and expediting.Document distribution.Value engineering design and proposals.Coordinating with Subcontractors and Vendors.Contract document distribution to job site, vendors and subcontractors.Visits project sites to monitor progress conformance to plans and standards.Coordinate facility startup activities.Provide the Project Manager with support and accurate information to maximize project management effectiveness.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Able to work well in a fast paced team environment. Our recruiting process is centralized and is handled by our HR Department.
