WHALE is Hiring an Assistant Teacher Near Greeley, CO

WHALE is the first non-profit respite care facility in Greeley, Colorado, for children with disabilities. At WHALE, we build inclusive communities where families who have children with delays/disabilities THRIVE through equal opportunities to live, learn, and play! We are looking for a nurturing Infant/Toddler teaching assistant to ensure that the basic and educational needs of our students are met in each classroom!

Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Assist as needed under the direction of the Lead Teacher/Director
  • Help prepare lesson plans and instructional materials for the classroom.
  • Implement classroom management strategies set out by the Director/Lead Teacher to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work, treating all children with dignity and respect.
  • Work directly with young children
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress.
  • Help with general housekeeping tasks
  • Implement technology into the classroom to enhance instruction and communication.
  • Collaborate with Lead teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure the success of all students.
  • Assist Director, Lead Teacher, and other staff with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Ability to maintain a positive learning environment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Maintain confidentiality of staff and students
  • Is a “team player” who inspires others by example
  • Establish and communicate classroom rules, and encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Seek assistance should emergencies arise
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Education Requirements:

(a) Is at least nineteen (19) years of age;

(b) A current early childhood professional credential level I or higher in version 3.0 as

determined by the Department.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
