The Transportation PD&E Engineer will be an integral part of the project development and environment team brainstorming new ideas to solve the challenges of today and tomorrow. Daily interaction will occur with the PD&E project managers and traffic planners while performing the conceptual design of roadways, intersections, and interchanges for FDOT PD&E and planning studies. The candidate will gain a comprehensive knowledge of transportation planning and alternatives analysis. The candidate will interact with a wide cross section of disciplines including traffic planning, bridge design, stormwater design, and environmental analysis in a fast-paced planning and engineering environment. The candidate experience must include FDOT MicroStation design experience and concept plan preparation. The candidate will participate in public involvement activities and assist in preparing technical presentations for public meetings. Knowledge and understanding of traffic operations is beneficial.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct technical geometric concept design of typical sections, roadway geometry, and intersections for planning/PD&E studies.
  • Interact with the engineers and environmental scientist to gather existing data, identify project challenges and constraints, develop solutions and project build alternatives.
  • Coordinate and assist in the preparation of engineering documents including feasibility studies, public involvement material, and preliminary engineering reports.
  • Prepare cost estimates using FDOT Long Range Estimates (LRE)
  • Coordinate with WGI's subconsultants and team members.
  • Conduct project administrative tasks such as preparing meeting notes and progress reports.
  • Interact with the public and attend periodic project public meetings in various Florida cities.
  • Support marketing efforts related to new project pursuits.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college,
  • Demonstrated 3 to 5 years in progressively responsible experience;
  • Florida Engineer Intern Certificate is required.
  • Florida Professional Engineering Registration not required, however the candidate is recommended to pursue PE license at the earliest time possible.
  • American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) is a plus;
  • Proficiency in FDOT MicroStation is required.
  • PD&E or corridor study experience required,
  • Required Microsoft office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Demonstrated participation in professional organizations a plus;
  • Understanding of traffic operational and level of service analysis is a plus.
  • Ability to become proficient as an engineering task lead;
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills;
  • occasional travel to other office or project locations will be required.
