WETA - PBS NewsHour is Hiring a Program Associate Near Arlington, VA
- Create a database of all available content for broadcast and digital. This includes content from PBS and all other distributors. Maintain that database by following all feeds and adding new programming to the database as it is acquired as well as removing anything that is no longer available for air.
- Update programming content based on rights and releases using the Protrack database system.
- Organize content that is designated for each specific channel: WETA PBS, WETA UK and WETA Metro.
- Forecast content by building draft schedules for all channels at least 12 months out; working with shows from their end dates to back-time the schedule accordingly.
- After 60 days, you should understand the inner workings of the WETA Local Department. Be familiar with the Protrack Database system and understand the scheduling priorities for all of the WETA channels.
- After 120 days, you should have a firm understanding of the PBS system. Have taken over content organizational management for all of the WETA Channels. Begin helping the Senior Director of Programming with annual program forecasts on a regular basis.
- Experience in television programming, audience research or media company preferred.
- Experience managing multiple large projects at a time and comfort with working with and presenting to senior leadership.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with careful attention to detail.
- Demonstrated understanding and application of computer technology to efficiently accomplish work, using Microsoft Office programs, email, Internet, and database management software.
- College degree in broadcasting or related field. Minimum three years of progressively responsible work experience in a media environment.
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
