ABOUT THE ROLE
As our Product Designer you will identify and design outstanding visual and user interface designs for PBS NewsHour editorial, news and digital products. You will contribute ideas to a design backlog and lead design research and testing.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You will get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You will learn our work style while establishing key relationships with colleagues. You will learn about our software and systems and contribute to design and research.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You create designs that excite and delight our different audiences, enticing them to stay longer and view more content. You are able to nimbly switch between different types of design and research work for different audiences. Your work helps our audience understand complicated editorial concepts and lead our users through our content in a way that keeps them coming back for more. You work well with the team and help expand our design system. Your designs will contribute to NewsHour’s reputation as a modern and innovative news producer.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
  • Design web experiences that will increase user engagement and retention.
  • Focus on UX, UI, and visual designs of our web products and editorial experiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional colleagues including software engineering, editorial and broadcast to help manage design backlog.
Proof of full dosage of a COVID-19 vaccination is required for all positions that will be working onsite, or may reasonably or occasionally be called to work onsite.
