A Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) is defined as a person who assists individuals with health care needs, that includes activities of daily living, and providing bedside care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (R.N.). Certified Nursing Assistants are an important member of the health care team. Certified Nursing Assistants also acquire a high level of experience, ability, and are skilled in providing routing care. Common basic tasks may include the following:

• Answering patient call light signals.
• Turning, and repositioning bedridden patients to prevent bed sores, and promote circulation.
• Measuring and recording food, and liquid intake/output, taking vital signs, and reporting any changes in patient's condition.
• Feeding patients who are unable to feed themselves.
• Providing patients with help walking, getting into and out of bed, and exercising.
• Preparing patients for treatment, or examination.
• Tidying rooms, and changing bed linens.
• Enhancing the lives of patients by demonstrating compassion, tenderness, listening skills, and effective care giving procedures.

Becoming a C.N.A. begins by receiving state-approved training which is required to care for patients in long-term-care facilities, many hospitals and heath care agencies.

Westside Terrace is offering interested individuals, motivated to do the best work of their life, the opportunity to attend a sanctioned C.N.A. training course.

THERE IS NO COST FOR THE 3 WEEK COURSE! ALL INDIVIDUALS ATTENDING THE TRAINING COURSE WILL BE EMPLOYED AS NURSE ASSISTANTS IN TRAINING (NATs) AND WILL BE PAID WHILE ATTENDING THE COURSE.
