The primary role of the math coach is to provide job-embedded professional development through instructional coaching in the area of mathematics. The coach partners with teachers to analyze student work and plan instruction that is responsive to student needs. The coach is responsible for leading teachers and school administrators through analysis of student performance data at the student, classroom, and school level for the purpose of examining student growth. The coach also plays a critical role in planning for district wide, school wide, and grade level based professional learning experiences.
The math specialist may be required to take on a minimal role in servicing students in math intervention.

Qualifications:
  • Appropriate CT Certification Required (013) or other elementary certification with K-5 grades;
  • Experience in multiple elementary grade levels preferred;
  • Strong commitment to a student-centered approach to coaching;
  • Demonstrated understanding of mathematical pedagogy;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and establish trusting relationships with teachers and administrators at both the school and district level;
  • Evidence of success with academically at-risk students;
  • Ability to analyze data and use student work to inform practice and differentiation;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Proficient in technology, including distance learning tools, Google Sheets, NWEA, and EduClimber; and
  • Experience in the design and implementation of professional development for teachers and parents in curriculum, instruction and assessment.
Salary Range: According to the Teachers contract (2022-2025)
