Weston Public Schools is Hiring an Elementary School Principal (2024-25 SY) Near Weston, MA

Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools is seeking a proven leader to be the next Principal of Field Elementary School (grades 4-5). The Principal is the instructional leader of the school, reports to the Superintendent, and works under the school committee policies and the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This is a 12-month position beginning July 1, 2024. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.

About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12).

  • Foster a creative and inclusive learning environment of belonging in which all students are supported, connected, and inspired to excel
  • Develop a strong, collaborative culture focused on high expectations for student learning and development
  • Continuously improve the school through effective planning, managing change, using data, research and best practices, monitoring progress, and allocating resources
  • Develop Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) to meet the diverse needs of students
  • Develop a High school schedule that supports academic excellence, high expectations, and required time on learning.
  • Support, supervise, and evaluate teachers, and staff to foster growth and a culture of continuous improvement
  • Plan and implement professional development for staff
  • Manage organizational systems and resources to ensure the school runs smoothly and efficiently
  • Develop an ethical, fiscally responsible budget that supports district and school improvement and strategic plans
  • Collaborate with the human resources team to recruit, select, develop, and retain effective educators of diverse backgrounds
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to build upon and refine current practices
  • Collaborate with families and community members to contribute to community interests and needs and maximize opportunities through the sharing of resources
  • Model strong leadership qualities and exhibit actions that reflect the values of the Weston Public Schools
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent
Desired Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of the state curriculum frameworks and the development of a standards-based classroom environment
  • Strong familiarity with MTSS, including Universal Design for Learning, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive teaching
  • Excellent communication skills - clear writer, facilitator, and excellent public speaker
  • Unshakeable ethics and integrity
  • Five or more years of exceptional student growth/achievement results as an educator
  • Five or more years of experience as a school or district leader, preferably in a diverse public school setting
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts administrator license as a Principal - grades PreK-8, by the time of appointment
Compensation and Benefits

The High School Principal's salary range for the 2024-25 school year is $135,000 - $155,000. Additionally, Weston offers a comprehensive benefits package, including generous paid time off, subsidized health insurance, and participation in the Massachusetts Teachers’ Retirement System. Professional development is ongoing in Weston and is supported through multiple opportunities, both internally and externally.
