Westmoreland Mining LLC is Hiring a Corporate Controller Near Lone Tree, CO

Position Summary
The Corporate Controller is responsible for general accounting operations which includes the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.
Supervisor Responsibilities
This position has formal supervisory responsibilities over other employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Oversees monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accounting records are maintained.
  • Responsible for setting documentation and data management standards.
  • Oversees and provides external financial reporting.
  • Oversees the maintenance of chart of accounts.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures, controls and reporting systems. Provide consolidation and translation.
  • Establish monitoring and enforcing internal controls.
  • Monitors and confirms financial condition by providing information to external auditors.
  • Coordinate budgets with FP&A by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Supports through AP budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Manages the corporate tax function in US and Canada.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains staff job results by coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
Typical Working Conditions
Normal office environment. Occasional evening or weekend work.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of related work experience

  • This position is expected to pay $220,000 - $245,000 annually; depending on skills, experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position. It is eligible for our annual Short Term Incentive program.
