JOB SUMMARY

- Cafeteria Attendant provides high level of customer service in operating and maintaining our employee cafeteria and assisting in our banquets kitchen.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 

This description is a summary of primary responsibilities and qualifications. The job description is not intended to include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future. The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

  • Obtain daily food from the banquet kitchen to set up in employee cafeteria.

  • Review menu for stations and label each offering on a daily basis including any allergen information.

  • Greet associates and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.

  • Set up station with all appropriate equipment for serving and condiments if needed.

  • Advise supervisor of any feedback received about food quality.

  • Replenish offerings as necessary, and check with associates for overall satisfaction.

  • Once meal is complete, clear and, if necessary, reset cafeteria according to Supervisors specifications to ensure the readiness of the room for the following meal.

  • Line out supplies as directed for future meal as needed.

  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking with supplies including napkins, utensils, serving ware, etc.

  • Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products, as assigned to adhere to health standards.

  • Coordinate and participate as required in the preparation of food.

  • Order cafeteria supplies.

  • Set up, maintain and break down workstation including the salad bar area.

  • Be responsible for processing food items, ensuring proper utilization, storage of food and supplies.

  • Responsible for maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of equipment supplies and all cafeteria areas.

  • Requires the ability to work around stoves, ovens and dishwashers and to lift large coffee urns.

  • Maintain and stock beverage dispenser to include filling of ice.

  • Scrapes, rinses and washes all dishware used in the cafeteria.

  • Must be a team player who can work well under pressure and effectively solve problems.

  • Operate steam equipment safely.

  • Sets up serving counters, steam tables and other foods, including fresh fruit and desserts.

  • Sweeps and mops floors, cleans counters and tables, and all equipment.

  • Empty garbage cans.

  • Assists in taking of inventories and supplies.

  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.

  • Follows safety and security procedures and rules.

  • Knows department fire prevention and emergency procedures.

  • Reports unsafe conditions to supervisor.

  • Reports accidents, injuries, near-misses, property damage or loss to supervisor.

  • Provides for a safe work environment by following all safety and security procedures and rules.

  • All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance. (Specific standards outlined in team member handbook).

  • Perform any related duties as requested by supervisor/manager.

  • Assistsin banquet kitchen when in between meals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Sanitation practices.

  • Food items and ability to interact with associates to answer questions and to promote food offerings.

  • Must have basic knowledge of food preparations, service standards, customer service and etiquette.

  • Food Service rules and regulations to meet federal and state guidelines.

  • Basic knowledge of the English language sufficient to understand inquiries from customers and communicate simple instructions.

  • Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.

  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.

  • Ability to operate beverage equipment, e.g., coffee maker.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout the shift.

  • Lifting Thirty (30) pounds maximum.

  • Ability to grasp, lift and/or carry, or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart/truck weighing a maximum of 100 lbs.

  • Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
